Position Summary

The Associate, Product Management is a member of the Next Generation Software Solutions (NGSS) team whose mission is to drive better and faster results for Bain consultants and clients through digital products that are embedded in Bain’s consulting solutions. The NGSS team partners closely with Industry and Capability Practices to bring Bain’s IP to life through the development and growth of tools, technologies, services, and support capabilities. In this role, the Associate understands how software fits into the consulting strategy and supports the product team and the Practice by contributing to product outcomes that drive commercial objectives. The Associate, Product Management assists the Practice and the product team with day-to-day operational and tactical activities across product discovery, development and delivery for a subset of product features or components. The Associate assists with troubleshooting, solving user inquiries, and performing routine updates. Where directed, the role will contribute to projects and support broader initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Discovery and Delivery Execution (60%)

• Support the product manager with user and market research to develop the backlog

• Support the product manager with operational needs to support backlog management, product governance, reporting and analytics needs

• Contribute to the product documentation to support internal and external enablement efforts

• Monitor product metrics and stability

Product Strategy, Planning and Operations (15%) 

• Understand the broader Bain vision and software strategy

• Understand objectives to effectively contribute to product work

Product Mindset and Customer Insights – (15%)

• Develop empathy and understanding of user workflows and needs

• Learn techniques and skills needed to scope a task, define requirements, and manage the execution of the task

Collaboration – (10%)

• Participate in departmental and organizational initiatives

• Build relationships with team members and peers

Qualifications –

Education and Work Experience:

  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • 1-2 years experience working on a product in a support role, as a business/data analyst, or in an entry-level product role
